Someone 03:32
Verse 1 Running round in circles I learned to play a game Where rules are nonexistent and the players are the same And this is where I met someone as different as can be who ran around against the crowd agreeing to disagree Verse 2 This someone made it clear to me that everything we do is based upon a disregarded universal truth And even though we seem to have it all under control There’s always something else that’s eating at your soul Chorus I hate how it is I hate how we all forget to live I hate how we don’t move on I hate how we wait for the other to be gone I hate how I would do the same I hate how I know there was nothing to gain but alas I am sure that I don’t want to anymore Verse 3 Maybe its a fact that none of us know what to do Or maybe we don’t care enough to find out what is true then someone walks into our lives and changes how we see the shooting starts and airplanes are brighter suddenly Chorus I hate how it is I hate how we all forget to live I hate how we don’t move on I hate how we wait for the other to be gone I hate how I would do the same I hate how I know there was nothing to gain but alas I am sure that I don’t want to anymore

Forgiveness 03:18
Verse 1 We follow the shadows the shadows that walk through our homes We look through the windows the windows with scars on their bones Chorus And we fall far from forgiveness When the tables have turned the roof that we burned was our own Verse 2 We look for the answers woven in the sheets that we lay We search for the memories the memories that haunt all our days Chorus And we fall far from forgiveness When the fire goes down the ashes will burn the decay Bridge (x2) Can you see the ghost that’s sleeping on your side of the bed? Can you feel the ghost that’s breathing for you in your head? Verse 3 Lock all the doors and the corpse in the closet again Lock all the boxes of pictures and whispers and sin Chorus And we fall far from forgiveness When the feelings are lost the flames that we cross are within

After All 03:54
I had almost passed the point of no return I lost my senses on the road back home to you I had almost passed the torch of my defences to the person that I almost thought I knew Now I seem to be following a never ending stream Now I seem to be letting go of every little dream I had with you guess I didn’t have a clue that I had with you something that was never true After all, after all after all you watched me fall after all, after all this time […] I wasted on you I had fallen far below your expectations that were higher than sky but not so blue I had fallen from our cloud nine reservations when I found that you found somebody new Now I seem to be following a never ending stream Now I seem to be letting go of every little dream I had with you guess I didn’t have a clue that I had with you something that was never true After all, after all after all you watched me fall after all, after all This time After all, after all after all you watched me fall after all, after all this time […] I wasted on you

Mountains 03:54
Verse 1 how’s it going over there is there really better air on the other side of the mountains like you said Verse 2 does the sunset bring you fear that the darkness is so near on the other side of the mountains like you said Chorus but the sky is grey and I don’t believe a word you say Verse 2 Is this everything you want to sit and stare and point and taunt from the other side of the mountains like you said Refrain but the sky is grey and I don’t believe a single word you say Bridge I will just keep falling with the rain even though its driving me insane I will keep on following the storm even though it doesn’t keep me nearly quite as warm as you used to do you used to do Chorus but the sky is grey and I don’t believe a word you say
5.
Home 03:48
Verse 1 home home home where are you I lost you down the river years ago home home home how are you I should’ve called you earlier I know Chorus but remember that we stare at the same dark sky each night and remember that we share all the same bright stars in sight forgive me for I let you down when you let down your guard I bid you farewell and regards Verse 2 home home home I need you I never needed anyone before home home home I miss you I miss you when the nights aren’t warm Chorus but I remember that we stare at the same dark sky each night and I remember that we share all the same bright stars in sight forgive me for I let you down when you let down your guard I bid you farewell and regards Bridge I can’t expect an answer I can’t expect you’ll understand but I’ve travelled far and wide just to be here by your side to take me home, home Verse 3 home home home I see you setting shop up on a brand new shore Home home home I found you and with that I could never ask for more Chorus for I remember that we stare at the same dark sky each night an I remember that we share all the same bright stars in sight forgive me for I let you down when you let down your guard I bid you farewell and regards I bid you farewell and regards

Someone, the forthcoming EP from Vikki Gilmore, is a wistful journey away from the comforts of familiarity and back again, with stops along the way to mourn lost love. Laden with Gilmore’s signature poignant wordplay, warm vulnerability and indie-folk soul, Gilmore’s second release pushes the boundaries of how much can be said in just five songs. Its title track envelops listeners in an intimately populated landscape of acoustic guitar and percussion as the Montreal singer-songwriter weaves a tale of fecklessness and surrender to the universe’s enigmatic will. The way her strong voice wavers delicately on “Forgiveness” sounds like a weary spirit escaping from a balloon, while “After All” shows a more hardened side, already on the other end of processing heartache rather than in the eye of the storm. “Mountains” paints a scene of perseverance by the break of dawn before returning “Home” for reconciliation. When Gilmore sings “I bid you farewell and regards,” it’s hard not to feel ready to do the same to your own personal baggage.
